College district schedules budget hearing Sept. 20

A public hearing on the community college district budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011 was set for Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at 7 p.m., at Olney Central College.

The tentative budget will be available for public inspection at the District Business Office, 233 East Chestnut Street, Olney, on and after Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, Illinois Eastern Community College officials indicated at the regular month board of trustees meeting on June 21.

At that June meeting held at Wabash Valley College, trustees approved a resolution authorizing the permanent transfer of approximately $30,000 in interest earned in the Working Cash Fund to the General Fund on or before June 30, 2011.

A resolution was adopted authorizing inter-fund loans during the 2011-2012 fiscal year, with the loans to be repaid to the original fund within one year.

A resolution was adopted to authorize certain expenditures from the Operations and Maintenance Fund, such as custodial salaries.

Lease or sub-lease agreements were renewed for 13 off-campus locations which house various IECC programs throughout the district.

Ten affiliation, observation and addendum agreements were approved dealing with the Basic Nurse Assistant, Phlebotomy, Associate Degree Nursing, Pharmacy Technician and Medical Assistant programs, with health related agencies.

Approval was given for the district to pay accrued bills for a short period following the end of the fiscal year June 30. The accrual period is July 1-14, 2011. All bills received during this period will be paid and a report given to the Board of Trustees the following month.

The International student application fee will be increased from $50 to $75, effective for applications filed for Fall 2011.

A memorandum of understanding was approved between Olney Central College and the Richland County TB and Health Office, providing for use of the OCC Gymnasium and adjacent parking area for dispensing of medications or vaccines in the event of an emergency/disaster.

Under the agreement, OCC would provide RCHO with the name and phone numbers of people to contact at OCC, provide basic floor plans of OCC grounds and facilities, and provide help in setting up a distribution area including organizing tables, chairs and waste receptacles.

RCHO would notify OCC employees of the intent to distribute medications and vaccines from the facility, give OCC staff and immediate family priority of distribution and provide phone contact information to OCC.
