10th Musgrave Memorial 100 ASAMWT Illiana this Saturday Night

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. -- The One big race you don’t want to miss, the 10th annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 presented by Texas Corral Grill & Saloon returns to Illiana Motor Speedway an ASA member track this Sat. Nite June 18. A 100-lap Shoot out Featuring the Cars & Stars of the ASA Midwest Tour against Chicagolands top Guns along with a full program of VanSenus Auto Parts Turbo stocks, Buys off Broadway Legends and Make It Straight Pure Stocks. A strong field is expected including defending winner Steve Carlson West Salem, WI; three time Illiana Champion Jeff Cannon, Eddie Hoffman, Blake Brown and Special guest NASCAR Truck competitor Erik Darnell making an unexpected return for the annual event.

The event is held in the memory and honor of the late Elmer Musgrave, who passed away in 2000. Musgrave was a long-time Chicagoland stock car competitor, racing at tracks throughout the Midwest and the Chicago area. His son, Ted Musgrave, the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, will be on hand Saturday for a special autograph session.

The track is located at 7211 Lincoln Hwy on U.S. Highway 30, about 2 miles east of U.S. Highway 41 or five miles west of Interstate 65.

Ross Kenseth Picks Up Win Number Three In The ASAMT

June 18, 2011 - Ross Kenseth took home his third victory in the The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and GrandStay Hospitality in 2011 in the "10th Annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial" presented by Texas Corral.

Chris Weinkauf and Ross Kenseth led the field to the green flag. With an invert of twelve, fast qualifier, Andrew Morrissey started in the twelfth spot.

Kenseth took the early lead while Chris Wimmer quickly fell into second. Early in the race it looked like the high-line was the place to be. Kenseth and Wimmer stretched out their lead by about four car-lengths.

Wimmer stayed on the bumper of Kenseth, lap after lap. In the middle of the pack, Carlson, Morrissey, Murgic, and Eilen were battling their way through the field.

Schendel and Weinkauf battled side by side for third while 2009 winner, Jacob Goede kept them in their sites. Schendel took the third spot under Weinkauf and Goede followed suit.

A lot of battles were going on from third through eighth while Kenseth and Wimmer continued to show the way. Boris Jurkovic was proving his experience at the track powering through the field and keeping his sights on the top five. He made a move on the inside of Kocourek but was unable to seal the deal.

Quick qualifier, Morrissey was biding his time behind Jurkovic as the two looked as though they had a string tied to each other. Jurkovic finally got by Kocourek as Weinkauf slipped back. Morrisey followed suit.

While the middle of the pack continued to battle, Tim Schendel and Jacob Goede were setting their sights on Kenseth and Wimmer as the foursome pulled away from the rest of the field.

The biggest battle continued for fifth as Kocourek and Weinkauf battled lap after lap and Jurkovic stuck his nose in. He was able to clear Kocourek for sixth. Jacob Goede was closing in on Schendel for third. One third of the way in, Goede made his move for third with sixty-five laps remaining. He settled back in for fourth as the field started to stretch out.

Half-way home, Jurkovic continued his mission catching Goede and Schendel and challenging for the third and fourth spot. As Jurkovic continued to make the move on Goede, Matt Kocourek had made his way back up to make another challenge for a top five.
