Former grad speaks to latest LPN class
MOUNT VERNON - The graduation ceremonies for 49 members of the class 2011 in Knox County Career Center School of Nursing practice took place on Mount Vernon Nazarene University Chapel on July 31.
Marty Durbin, a graduate of the first nursing auxiliary class in 1980, was the keynote. Now, nurse, Durbin is a member of the Nursing Practice Advisory Committee and works with students in practical nursing during their rotation through labor and delivery.
"You need to know where you came from to know where you go," Durbin told the soon-to-be graduates.She said that graduates will always appreciate the quality of basic education, and professionalism they have received by participating in the PN in Knox County Career Center.
Durbin also encouraged the graduates to always address the heart of their clients with compassion, knowledge and professionalism they have come to know through their education.
