Woman Arrested Twice in Four Days

Donna J. Mills, 50, of Millport Ave., had two run-ins with the police last week. The first incident took place around 6:30 p.m. on June 21, when Mills’ neighbors, a 24-year-old woman and a 22-year old man, called police after Mills showed up at their residence “yelling and cursing” at the couple for money she said the 22-year-old owes her. According to police, “a toddler was in the immediate area while this was going on.” Police said even after Mills was informed that police had been called, she did not stop yelling at the couple. Mills was charged with 2 degree breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court on June 28.

Just before 9 p.m. on June 25, police were called by a 51-year-old resident of Millport Ave. with a traffic complaint. The caller said he and his three-year-old granddaughter — the same toddler who was witness to the incident with Mills four days earlier — were outside playing ball. He told police that Mills got into her car, put it in reverse and accelerated it rapidly. According to police, the revving made, ”the tires spin and the vehicle went into reverse at a high rate of speed. The vehicle came to within a few feet of the little girl.” Mills was not at home when police arrived. But officers returned to the home a short time later, spoke with Mills and took her into custody, charging her with risk of injury to a minor, a felony crime.  Mills was released after posting $500 bond.

Silver, Jewelry, Camera Missing from South Ave. Residence

On June 24, a 48-year-old resident of South Ave. notified police that she had discovered items missing from her residence and a car parked in the driveway of the home. On June 20, she told police, she realized a box containing silver flatware and a bag containing jewelry were missing from the home. She subsequently discovered a camera had been taken from the front seat of her car, which was unlocked in the driveway. The homeowner told police the car and residence are both often left unlocked. There was no sign of forced entry at the home. The sterling flatware is valued at $5,000; two rings, a pair of earrings and a brooch are valued at $7,500; the Canon camera is valued at $300.

Garage Window Shattered

The resident of a home on Old King’s Highway told police the glass pane on a garage door was shattered sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on June 20.  It is not clear what was used to cause the damage, and no entry to the property was gained.
