From that beginning—and in the Greek Revival dwelling on Main Street to which he, his parents and his two siblings had recently moved—Mr. Mattox has made himself an in-house empire comprising several related parts. He is an antiques dealer, grounded in American furniture and folk art, but also offers ephemera, scientific instruments, glass, metals, paintings, prints and sculpture. In one visit you can see an American banquet table made of mahogany in the early years of the 19th century, perhaps from the fabled New York city shop of Duncan Phyfe, who had a summer place down the road in Southbury; a sculpture plaque of Abraham Lincoln, the very image seen on the American penny; or an arresting campaign poster designed and executed in 1972 by Alexander Calder, who made it for his friend Toby Moffett, once a rising star in Connecticut politics. “A subtle Clark Kent-type hall table that transforms into the Superman of dining tables, seating two to fourteen depending on the host’s needs. The five-board San Domingo mahogany thumb-molded top over a telescoping stretcher flanked by two drop-down Sheraton legs with “A.Thorp” marked brass casters and a Neoclassic swivel action trestle-base pier table. New York city brazier Andrew Thorp’s stamp marks appear on feet cuffs of several documented Phyfe tables. Circa 1815, beautiful patina, several minor repairs consistent with a well-maintained antique.” “I went way over time,” said Mr. Mattox. “But as far as I could see, nobody left.” In the course of his days he also beats the drum for various good causes. To his resume he can add founding president of the Woodbury Antiques Dealers Association and past president of the Woodbury Lions Club. Additionally he has served as auctioneer at many local fund raising efforts—including events at Waterbury’s St. Mary’s Hospital and Flanders Nature Center of Woodbury. Recently Mr. Mattox has been aided and encouraged by the presence of his wife Kathleen Dowd. The couple met online and the ensuing romance led to marriage in 2004. Ms. Dowd is a business executive with a day job, and at this writing the couple are deep into the agonies and the ecstasies of home renovation, which includes their spacious living quarters “above the store.” Their favorite room is on this floor, a living room given over to comfort and, mostly, Art Nouveau antiques, one current passion.

When several operations occur in an expression, each part is evaluated and resolved in a predetermined order called operator precedence. Parentheses can be used to override the order of precedence and force some parts of an expression to be evaluated before other parts. Operations within parentheses are always performed before those outside. Within parentheses, however, normal operator precedence is maintained. When expressions contain operators from more than one category, arithmetic operators are evaluated first, comparison operators are evaluated next, and logical operators are evaluated last. Comparison operators all have equal precedence; that is, they are evaluated in the left-to-right order in which they appear. Arithmetic and logical operators are evaluated in the following order of precedence: The string concatenation operator (&) is not an arithmetic operator, but in precedence it does fall after all arithmetic operators and before all comparison operators. The Is operator is an object reference comparison operator. It does not compare objects or their values; it checks only to determine if two object references refer to the same object. I don’t want to start another war here but all I am asking for is a fair treatment of people and not discriminate against people based on country of birth. One of the reasons I left my country, India, is because of the discriminating that exists there in terms of "reservations" where everything is reserved based on your caste for 50%. Now please dont tell me reservations and country cap are different, they are not different they are the same. they accomplish the same purpose in case of skilled immigration.I never thought such a thing would happen in US but it seems worst here because Indians and Chinese make up almost 70 to 80% of H1 (which is dual intent) but when it comes to employment based green cards (which are based on H1) Indians and Chinese combined get only 14% of the visas, don’t you see the tragedy here? Why don’t they enforce the country cap on H1 also, that way people from India and china will not have to suffer worse than others? But US is a competitive country, they want the best available talent for H1 and that’s the reason they don’t put country caps on H1. Take my case for example, I have come to this country in 1999 on F1 and have been working and paying takes since 2001. I am not even able to apply for 485.
